LAGUNA — The suspects fired back at the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police-AIDG as they were served with search warrants for violating the Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 10591 at Blk 1-A, Lot 10 Jasmine St., Adelina Subd., in San Pedro, Laguna.
The suspects killed were identified as Alvin Comerciante alias ‘Vergel’ or alias ‘Burdado,’ as well as one of his men.
According to PNP-AIDG Director P/SSupt. Albert Ferro, alias Vergel or Burdado was the hitman hired by drug lords at the New Bilibid Prison.
“He was regular in jail and he had connections inside prisons where there are drug lords,” Ferro said.
He adds they were also part of the group called Ace Vergel group and 14K drug group that allegedly supplies illegal drugs to showbiz and diplomatic personalities.
“He was one of Ace Vergel’s men at the time when he was still alive. They were involved in illegal activities connected to the showbiz industry. That’s why this has been our focus, which would also help to put a stop to the spread of illegal drugs in the showbiz industry.”
He adds that 30 percent of the illegal drug supply in Brgy. San Vicente also came from alias Vergel.
Ferro further noted that one of the four who got arrested was Kristine Padilla, alias Krizel– the live-in partner of alias Vergel.
“We are determining the connection of Robin Padilla’s cousin who was present in the house where we implemented the warrant,” Ferro said.
Alias Krizel was the one who jumped off the window of the house.
Also seized inside the house of the suspect were three guns including the one used by alias Vergel, a grenade, shabu and shabu paraphernalia. — Lea Ylagan / UNTV Newd & Rescue
