MANILA, Philippines — Multi-awarded international evangelist Bro. Eliseo Soriano, the host of the longest-running religious program in the Philippines, “Ang Dating Daan,” (The Old Path) has passed away at 73.
A statement by Members Church of God International (MCGI) released on Thursday (February 11) confirmed his death.
“It is with deep sadness, yet with full faith in the Almighty, that we announce the passing of our beloved and one and only Bro. Eliseo ‘Eli’ Soriano — a faithful preacher, brother, father, and grandfather to many,” the MCGI said.
Born on April 4, 1947, Brother Eli started dedicating his life to preaching the undefiled word of God in the bible at the young age of 17.
He started his flagship program “Ang Dating Daan” in 1980. After years of challenges to find a permanent home, ADD and Bro. Eli’s other programs “Truth in Focus” and “Itanong mo Kay Soriano” finally settled with UNTV in 2004.
Due to religious persecution Bro. Eli was forced to leave the Philippines in 2005. He settled in Brazil where his global evangelization efforts continued.
He was known for his straightforward and courageous method of exposing errors in doctrines of various religious groups locally and abroad through his signature segment ‘Itanong Mo kay Soriano, Biblia ang Sasagot’ – a non-scripted Bible exposition being broadcasted live on TV and the Internet where guests can ask impromptu questions which Bro Eli answers with verses from the Scriptures.

MCGI has known Brother Eli as a humble servant despite his fame and stature in the religious world.
Throughout his life, he made sure not to burden the members of the Church for his day to day subsistence as he faithfully committed to God not to use religion and the Scriptures as a kind of commodity or business, unlike other preachers.
A genuine philanthropist, Bro. Eli spearheaded a number of projects for the indigents here and abroad through the help of his nephew Bro. Daniel Razon.
These include charity homes for the orphans, homeless, widows, feeding programs, free education, medical and legal mission to name a few.
