QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Ayon kay Col. Restituto Padilla Jr., ang grupong nasa likod ng pagpapakalat ng video na ito na nagpapahayag ng pagsuporta sa ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) ay ang Ansar Al-Khilafah Philippines o AKP na pinamumunuan ng isang Muhammad Jaafar Maguid alyas “Tokboy”.

“This group recently posted videos of themselves on the internet expressing their support to extremist groups which was seen as their attempt to gain attention,” ani Col. Padilla.

“The identities of those killed in the encounter as of this time are still being verified, although earlier reports indicated that four may have been identified, we have not received those reports yet,” dagdag pa ni Padilla.

(ROSALIE COZ / UNTV News)

7 more communist rebels yield in Sultan Kudarat

Aileen Cerrudo   •   October 18, 2021

MANILA, Philippines—Seven more members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) surrendered to the Joint Task Force Central in Sultan Kudarat on Sunday (October 17).

Commander of Western Mindanao Command Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr. said the CTG personalities were identified as Oyet, Maymay, Ben, Noel, Nacan, Osing, and Adog.

They belonged to the Platoon Myphone, East Daguma Front, Sub-regional Command-Daguma, Far South Mindanao Region. The said individuals also handed over their firearms, including two cal. 30 M1 Garand rifles, one cal. 30 M2 Carbine rifle, one 12-gauge Shotgun, and one M79 grenade launcher.

“The military is always willing to welcome former rebels/violent extremists who wish to lay down their arms, go back to the mainstream society, and live a peaceful life with their family,” Rosario said.

During the debriefing, alias Oyet expressed his condemnation of the communist group which he described as a ‘godless’ group.

Dako ang pagmahay namo ngano ning apil mi sa teroristang NPA, mayo na lang naa ang 7IB nga wala ngaduha-duha sa pagdawat namo (We regret our decision of joining the NPA terrorists. It’s a good thing that the 7IB is here to accept us without second thoughts),” alias Oyet said.

It can be recalled that on October 13, eight members of the same group surrendered to the 7IB in the municipality of Bagumbayan. AAC

PNP says no ISIS threat in Bulacan, probes leak of draft memo

Robie de Guzman   •   September 11, 2019

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now investigating the leak and circulation online of a draft memorandum stating about the alleged presence of “ISIS affiliates” in Bulacan.

The said document posted on social media states that the Bulacan Provincial Police Office was on full alert status because of threats posed by the terrorist group. It said ISIS-inspired militants from Tuguegarao are moving to Bulacan to attack religious communities in the province.

According to Bulacan provincial police director Chito Barseluna, the document was not official and was not intended for public release.

He added that there was a miscommunication in drafting the memo as this should have been written to alert police units following recent bombings in Mindanao.

Barseluna confirmed that Bulacan police was indeed on full alert but this is because of the celebration of the Singkaban festival in the province.

The police official also denied receiving an intelligence report about the presence of an ISIS-inspired group in the province.

Barseluna also called on the public to stay calm and assured that tight security measures are in place. RRD (with details from Correspondent Lea Ylagan)

Suicide bombing rocks Indanan, Sulu

UNTV News   •   September 8, 2019

A bomb exploded anew in the municipality of Indanan, Sulu on Sunday (September 8) afternoon.

An unidentified suicide bomber attacked a military detachment in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu at 5:45pm.

Troops from the 351B Battalion immediately proceeded to the area for possible reinforcement. They were promptly followed by intelligence operatives for initial investigation.

The military’s Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) said in a statement that the attacker was a long-haired foreign looking woman based on the recovered mutilated head. However, the recovered dismembered hand resembles that of a man.

The report further adds that the bomber was wearing an abaya attire, a full-length outer garment traditionally worn by some Muslim women.

Apart from the suspect, no other casualties were reported.

The WestMinCom assured that government forces will continue peace and security efforts to prevent hostile acts that may “disrupt the peace and development in the Bangsamoro Region.”

The bombing comes on the heels of yesterday’s blast in Sultan Kudarat where an improvised explosive device went off at a public market in Isulan, injuring seven people.
