Magnitude 6.7 earthquake hits Batangas

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocked Batangas at around 4:49 a.m. on Saturday, July 24.

According to a report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the center of the quake was located at 16 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas.

It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 116 kilometers.

This was shortly followed by another 5.1 earthquake hitting the same area with a depth of 107 kilometers at 4:57 a.m.

Phivolcs said it does not expect damage, but warns of aftershocks from the tremor.
