MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Bising has slightly weakened as it accelerates northward, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said that the following areas remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal number 1:

• Batanes
• The eastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Lal-Lo, Gattaran, Baggao, Peñablanca, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Aparri, Santa Teresita, Alcala, Amulung, Iguig, Tuguegarao City) including Babuyan Islands
• The eastern portion of Isabela (San Pablo, Maconacon, Divilacan, Tumauini, Cabagan, Palanan, Dinapigue, San Guillermo, Benito Soliven, San Mariano, Ilagan, Gamu, Naguilian)

Based on the forecast track, PAGASA said that Bising will move generally northward or north northwestward until Thursday morning, when the typhoon will be nearest to the landmass of Northern Luzon.

Afterwards, the typhoon will move northeastward away from the landmass throughout Thursday, and is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday morning.

Bising was last spotted at 345 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan or 345 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.

The typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 205 km/h. It is moving northward at 15 km/h.

PAGASA said Bising is forecast to gradually weaken throughout the remainder of the forecast period. The typhoon will likely be downgraded to severe tropical storm category by Friday and tropical storm category by Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines – The tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS) in some areas in the country were lifted on Wednesday as Typhoon Bising continues to slow down while moving northwestward east of mainland Cagayan, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that TCWS signal number 2 has been lifted but signal number 1 remains hoisted over the following areas:

• Batanes
• Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
• The eastern portion of Apayao (Luna, Santa Marcela, Flora, Pudtol)
• The eastern portion of Kalinga (Pinukpuk, Rizal)
• The eastern portion of Isabela (Ilagan, San Mariano, Palanan, Divilacan, Maconacon, San Pablo, Cabagan, Tumauini, Santa Maria, Delfin Albano, Santo Tomas, Quezon, Quirino, Gamu, Naguilian, Benito Soliven, Reina Mercedes, Mallig, Burgos, Roxas, Cauayan City, Luna, San Manuel, Cabatuan, Aurora, Dinapigue, San Mateo, Alicia, Angadanan, San Guillermo, Echague, Jones, San Agustin, San Isidro)
• The northeastern portion of Quirino (Maddela)
• The northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dilasag)

PAGASA said that tropical cyclone winds of at least strong breeze to near gale in strength extend outward up to 370 km from the center of the typhoon. Destructive typhoon-force winds extend outward up to 90 km from the center of the typhoon.

It added that the northeasterly wind flow enhanced by the typhoon will also bring strong breeze to near gale conditions with higher gusts over the coastal and mountainous areas of Northern Luzon that are not under any TCWS in the next 24 hours.

Bising was last located at 360 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h. The typhoon is moving northwestward at 10 km/h.

Based on the forecast track, PAGASA said Bising will move generally northward or north northwestward until Wednesday night or Thursday morning, when the typhoon will be nearest to the landmass of Northern Luzon.

Afterwards, the typhoon will move northeastward away from the landmass throughout tomorrow and east northeastward on Friday and Saturday.

Bising is expected to gradually weaken throughout the remainder of the forecast period. The typhoon will likely be downgraded to severe tropical storm category by Saturday and tropical storm category by Sunday.

Umabot sa kabuuang 8,205 pamilya o 32,491 indibiduwal ang inilikas sa Catanduanes dahil sa pananalasa ng bagyong Bising.

Karamihan sa mga inilikas na residente ay mula sa coastal areas at mga lugar na lantad sa banta ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa.

Sa ulat ni UNTV Correspondent Dan Gersalia sa programang Ito Ang Balita, halos dalawang araw nang nararamdaman sa Catanduanes ang mga pag-ulan at hanging dala ng bagyo.

May ilang insidente na rin ng minor landslide ang naitala, maging ang pagtaas ng antas ng tubig sa mga ilog sa ilang bahagi ng Catanduanes.

Sa bayan ng San Andres, may ilang poste na rin ng kuryente ang natumba habang wala namang supply ng kuryente sa ilang bahagi ng lalawigan matapos itong putulin mula pa noong Linggo ng tanghali bilang paghahanda sa bagyo.

Sa bayan ng Virac, may ilang lugar ding nawalan ng supply ng tubig bilang bahagi ng preventive shutdown measures ng water service provider.

Gumagana naman ang mga linya ang komunikasyon sa lalawigan.

Tiniyak ng lokal na pamahalaan na patuloy ang pamamahagi ng ayuda sa mga pamilyang inilikas dahil sa bagyong Bising.

Ang Catanduanes ay nasa ilalim ng Tropical Cycline Wind Signal number two, pati na ang ilang bahagi ng Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, at Samar at Eastern Samar.

Nakataas naman ang Signal Number One ilang bahagi ng Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon kabilang na ang Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Masbate kabilang na ang Burias at Ticao Islands, Biliran, Leyte, at ang nalalabing bahagi ng Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Samar at Eastern Samar, pati na ang dulong bahagi ng Cebu kabilang na ang mga isla ng Bantayan at Camotes.

Ayon sa PAGASA, maaaring makaranas ng malalakas na pag-ulan hanggang sa araw ng Martes ang mga rehiyon ng Bicol at Northern Samar pati na ang ilang bahagi ng Aurora at mainland Cagayan at Isabela.

Sa pagtaya ng PAGASA, maaaring kumilos lumayo ang bago sa kalupaan ng Luzon  sa araw ng Miyerkules o Huwebes.
