OPM icon Claire dela Fuente  passes away at 62

MANILA, Philippines—Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Claire dela Fuente passed away on Tuesday, March 30. She was 62.

Relatives of the singer announced that Dela Fuente, dubbed as “The Karen Carpenter of the Philippines” in her prime suffered from a cardiac arrest early this morning.

Dela Fuente, who was also known as “Asia’s Sweetest Voice,”  popularized the songs “Sayang,” “Nakaw na Pag-ibig” and “Minsan, Minsan,” among others.

The singer, along with veteran singers Imelda Papin and Eva Eugenio competed for the title “Jukebox Queen” in the ‘70s.

Netizens and other celebrities took to Twitter to express their sadness and condolences.
