MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Odette intensifies further as it endangers the Bucas Grande-Siargao Islands and Dinagat Islands, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in an 11 AM update Thursday, December 16.
PAGASA said the center of the eye of Typhoon Odette was located based on all available data including those from Hinatuan Doppler Weather Radar at 175 kilometers East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte (9.7°N, 127.1°E).
It carries maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center, gustiness of up to 230 km/h, and a central pressure of 940 hPa, while moving West Northwestward at 25 km/h.
Strong winds or higher extend outwards up to 480 km from the center.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No.4, with very destructive typhoon-force winds prevailing or expected within 12 hours, is hoisted over the following provinces:
