Philippines logs 5,249 new COVID-19 cases
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines’ cumulative tally of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) climbed to 1,364,239 after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 5,249 additional infections.
In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases in the country has reached 55,847. Of this figure, 91.4 percent are mild, 4.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.32 percent are moderate, 1.9 percent are severe, and 1.3 percent are in critical condition.
The DOH noted in its report that eight accredited testing laboratories failed to submit data on time.
The DOH said total recoveries from the virus rose to 1,284,643 after 7,053 more patients recovered from the disease.
The total COVID-related deaths climbed to 23,749 with 128 new fatalities.
Data from the DOH also showed that 57 percent of the country’s ICU beds are occupied and 36 percent of ventilators are being used.
In the National Capital Region, 42 percent of the ICU beds are occupied while 31 percent of the ventilators are in use.
The DOH also reported the positivity rate of 13.0 percent out of 43,012 tests reported last June 19.
