Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday morning cast her ballot at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina.

The presidential daughter arrived at 8:34 a.m. and immediately proceeded to her designated polling precinct.

Duterte was able to complete the process of voting within ten minutes without any problem.

In a brief interview with the media after voting, the mayor expressed hope that all Hugpong ng Pagbabago party bets will win despite some of them ranking high in voter preference surveys.

In the past weeks, several of the Hugpong’s senatorial candidates pierced the “magic 12” based on surveys conducted by Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations.

She also called on Filipino registered voters to go out and exercise their right to suffrage.

Duterte also advised Filipino voters to think and vote wisely in order to elect those who deserve to lead the local government. (with details from Janice Ingente)

MANILA, Philippines – The camp of presidential hopeful Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has apologized to the public over the heavy traffic brought by the caravan they held in Quezon City on Wednesday morning.

In a statement, Marcos’ chief of staff and spokesperson Attorney Victor Rodriguez said the organizers of the caravan did not expect the large number of people joining the event.

“Humihingi na rin ng paumanhin at pang-unawa ang BBM-Sara UniTeam sa mga motorista, byahero, pamahalaang lungsod at maging sa MMDA kung ang nasabing Unity Caravan ay nagdulot ng pagsikip sa daloy ng trapiko,” he said.

Marcos and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte kicked off their caravan along the Commonwealth Avenue along with their supporters riding motorcycles and other vehicles.

The Quezon City government earlier advised motorists along Commonwealth Avenue, Elliptical Road, and Quezon Avenue to take alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic due to the political caravan.

Meanwhile, the camp of Marcos expressed gratitude to the city government for its assistance during the caravan, despite difference in political beliefs.

The caravan was spearheaded by Anakalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor, who is running for Quezon City mayor, along with his running mate Councilor Winnie Castelo, House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and other city officials.

MANILA, Philippines – Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) has adopted former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as its candidate for president in the 2022 elections.

The Lakas-CMD party has passed a resolution confirming Marcos as its adopted candidate during its Executive Committee (Execom) meeting on Wednesday night.

The party also confirmed in another resolution that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who currently serves as the party’s chairperson, is its vice presidential candidate.

The Lakas-CMD resolutions have sealed the team-up of Marcos and Duterte for the upcoming elections.

The Execom also passed a resolution authorizing the president of Lakas-CMD, House Majority Leader and Leyte First District Representative Martin Romualdez to enter into alliance agreements with other political parties.

Among the political parties expected to forge alliance with the Lakas-CMD are Sara Duterte-led Hugpong ng Pagbabago, and Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (FPM).

In a post on social media, Duterte announced the adoption of said resolutions during their meeting.

She also said that the Uni-team alliance signing of political parties will be held on Thursday.

“Bukas na po ang Uniteam Alliance signing ng PFP, LakasCMD, PMP at HNP,” she said.

Sara Duterte takes drug test

MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Wednesday said she underwent a drug test and her results yielded negative for narcotics.

In a statement, the vice presidential bet said she took the test upon the request of her running mate, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“Today, I took a drug test that yielded negative of any illegal substances. This test, I took voluntarily upon the request of my Uniteam partner, Senator Bongbong Marcos, to support the call for transparency as aspiring public officials seeking the trust of our fellow Filipinos,” she said.

Sara shared the results of her drug test, which showed that she was negative for several illegal substances.

On Tuesday, Marcos announced that he took a cocaine test and submitted the result to law enforcement agencies.

This was after President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that a presidential aspirant is using cocaine.

Duterte did not give any name.

“Uniteam BBM-Sara’s stand against illegal drugs is united and unequivocal. This can be seen from both our negative tests as well as our common stance against the proliferation of illegal drugs and the need for effective measures of prevention, rehabilitation, and enforcement,” Mayor Sara said.

She also stressed “as important as the war against illegal drugs is, other compelling issues continue to challenge our country’s ability to provide long-term safety and security for our people.”

“Therefore, it is crucial in this electoral season that we focus on the substantial qualifications of those that seek to lead our country,” she said.

“Particularly, that we examine our presidential and vice presidential candidates under the lens of competence and experience – an infallible ability to manage crisis through policy and practice built up through years of executive, legislative, and administrative exposure; a proven track record of delivering security and development; and a clear and tested platform for job security and sustainable livelihood,” she added.
