SSS asks members to transact online to keep physical distancing in branches

MANILA, Philippines – The Social Security System (SSS) offices reopened on Monday (June 1) after more than two months of temporary closure due to strict implementation of community quarantine measures in Metro Manila and other areas prompted by the coronavi/rus disease (COVID-19). 

At its main office in Diliman, Quezon City, members crowded the SSS premises to transact different claims and loan applications that have been delayed since the outbreak started this year. 

Security personnel were all eyes on the waiting clients constantly reminding them to maintain physical distancing.

A large box is placed at the entrance where members may place their application forms. 

Floor markings are also in place inside the office premises reminding clients where to properly stand when in queue. 

A specific area, meanwhile, is allotted for payment transactions. 

Despite the health risks, several senior citizens opted to patiently wait in line to process their applications for pension. 

“Kasi antagal na akong naghihintay doon sa ayudang sinasabi nila hanggang ngayon wala. Kaya personal na akong nagpunta [I have been waiting for the assistance that they told us which I have not received until now],” lamented a senior citizen, David Alano.

“Isa-submit na lang po. Naabutan ako ng lockdown dapat noong April. Kailangan ko kasi may maintenance ako [I just need to submit it. I was supposed to file in April but it was delayed due to the lockdown. I need this because of my maintenance],” said Janice Labasan, also a senior citizen.

Due to the influx of clients, SSS is encouraging its members to process their applications or transact online to avoid large crowds in branches and keep protected from the virus. 

“Dinagdagan namin, marami na kaming ilalagay na serbisyo online para mabawasan ang nagta-transact sa branches [We have added several services online to minimize transactions in branches],” said SSS Spokesperson Fernando Nicolas.

Retirement pwede na online. Iyong maternity benefit claim natin sa online na rin. So marami na pong mawawalang serbisyo sa branch at pupunta na sa online [Retirement (claims), maternity benefit claims can be done online. We have minimized the services in branches and transferred them online],” he added. 

Meanwhile, SSS said that payment of accumulated contributions for employers, self employed, voluntary members, household members is extended until June 15. MNP (with details from Rey Pelayo)

SSS offices overcrowded by members to beat June 15 contribution deadline

MANILA, Philippines – Members of the Social Security System (SSS) still have until Monday (June 15) to remit their pending contributions for the months of February, March, and April.

SSS Branch in Diliman, Quezon City can only accommodate up to 250 individuals in compliance with health protocols, specifically physical distancing measures being imposed by the government amid the prevailing risk of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection. 

The agency seeks understanding from members as it only operates on limited manpower.

“Ang gusto po natin ma-minimize ang overcrowding sa ating mga SSS office, [We want to minimize overcrowding in SSS offices],” said SSS Media Affairs Team Head Cecil Mercado. 

Ang ating workforce ay hindi pa fully implemented so hati-hati kami ng schedule [Our workforce is not yet fully implemented so we divide our schedule],” she added. 

Members have the option to process their transactions online.

But some still opted to go to SSS branches, such as in Diliman, because of specific concerns that cannot be processed online.

Nag-try ako kaya lang dito ako pinapunta kasi dito na raw sa main (office) ang transakyon ng reklamo ko [I tried but I was directed here to transact my complaint],” Manuel Albarido said. 

“Hindi raw kasi sila nag-generate ng mga lumang payment form na ganto so kailangan mo siyang i-direct, ima-manual mo [They do not generate an old payment form so I need to submit it directly and manually], ” noted another member, Carlo Mcdon. 

Hindi ako marunong mag-online [I don’t know how to do it online],” claimed Rosie Amparo.

Aside from remittance of contributions, SSS has also opened its services to those who wish to apply for pension and other benefits. MNP (with reports from Rey Pelayo)

URGENT: SSS calls on employers to correct payout details of employees until 5PM, June 10

MANILA, Philippines — Employers are being notified to immediately correct the payout details of their employees to allow the Social Security System (SSS) to credit the subsidy under the agency’s Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS) program.

Based on the agency’s statistics, there is still a total of 24,118 employees who have incorrect bank accounts or mobile number information in the My.SSS record.

Thus, the SSS is advising all employers to check their emails to view the names of employees whose information needs to be rectified until 5:00PM of Wednesday (June 10).

Procedures for correction are detailed in the email sent by SSS.

Employers are reminded that if employees’ payout details are left uncorrected, SSS will not be able to credit the subsidy to them. 

Their subsidies shall be forfeited and shall revert back to the government.

LTFRB Central Office to accept official transactions starting June 3

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced that its central office will start accepting official transactions on Wednesday (June 3).

Those who will visit the central office are reminded to adhere to the government’s social distancing guidelines and health protocols such as wearing face masks, body temperature check and regular disinfection.

However, LTFRB also reminds the public that online processing of selected transactions remains as stated in the agency’s Memorandum Circular 2020-016 regarding the  mandatory on-line filing of request for selected transactions while the general community quarantine (GCQ) is still in place.

Transactions which will be accepted online include:

1. Request for Special Permit;

2. Request for Confirmation of Unit/s

3. Request for Franchise Verification

4. Correction of Typographical Error

5. Request for Issuance or Extension Provisional Authority

Online processing is being implemented to uphold the safety standards of social distancing, according to the agency reiterated.
