Strong winds prevail over Batanes, Babuyan Islands; Signal #1 stays
MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Fabian continues to move slowly, still enhancing the Southwest Monsoon.
As of the latest weather bulletin on Thursday (July 22), tropical cyclone wind signal (TVWS) #1 remains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands where strong winds are being experienced.
As of 5:00 PM, Typhoon Fabian was estimated at 505 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes packed with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h and gustiness of up to 185 km/h.
The combined impact of Typhoon Fabian and the southwest monsoon will continuously bring monsoon rains over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands.
Meanwhile, occasional gusty conditions will prevail over Visayas and the rest of Luzon especially in coastal and mountainous areas due to southwest monsoon.
On the forecast track, the typhoon will pass close or make landfall in the vicinity of Miyako, Yaeyama and Senkaku Islands between tomorrow (July 23) afternoon and Saturday (July 24) morning.
It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) tomorrow evening or Saturday morning.
