All roads lead to the historic Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Monday, March 11 as UNTV Cup stages the 2nd game of the Best of 3 Finals between the AFP Cavaliers and Senate Defenders.

But before the explosive face-off of the former champions, the event will be filled with attractions prepared for all.

As the coliseum gate opens at 4PM, attendees can start availing services of different participating government agencies organized by the UNTV Action Center.

The Social Security System (SSS) will render services such as online verification of loans, contribution and membership and UMID card application.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on the other hand will have an information desk for inquiries on individual taxes.

Meanwhile, the PAG-IBIG Fund will assist with online verification of loans and will also set up an information desk on benefits, loan privileges, contribution and membership.

Processing of NBI clearance will also be available at the Action Center area as well as the application for Postal ID — just bring the necessary requirements such as application fees and identification documents (IDs and proof of address).

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will also facilitate the application of the following:

  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate
  • Certificate of non-marriage/CENOMAR
  • Death certificate

(Note: Corresponding fees will be applied.)

Exciting song and dance numbers will open the event followed by exhibition matches in 3×3 format to be participated by the teams of  PNP, Malacañang-PSC, PITC and NHA.

Next is the much awaited bestowing of individual awards to players who have shown excellence and notable performances throughout the season.

This is followed by the giving of awards to the teams’ respective beneficiaries — the reason for their UNTV Cup journey.

And finally, the main game of the night will begin.

Will the AFP Cavaliers end the series on Monday or will the Senate Defenders survive another day to force the series to Game 3 on March 18? Let’s all find out!

UNTV CUP: DENR snaps Malacañang-PSC’S winning streak

UNTV News   •   November 5, 2019

A key player to DENR’s victory against Malacañang – PSC Kamao is its playmaker Arturo Atablanco who provided energy, control, and stability on both offense and defense department.

The DENR Warriors defeated the multi-season finalist Malacañang-PSC Kamao in the main game of UNTV Cup’s Sunday triple-header at Pasig City Sports Center.

With a final score of 80-77, the Warriors ended Kamao’s four-game winning streak.

The tandem of Ed Rivera (22 points, 8 rebounds) and Arturo Atablanco (5 points 4 rebounds and 7 assists) led DENR to victory.

John Michael Jimenez’ 19 points, Jeffrey Punzalan’s 17 points and Eric Dela Cuesta’s 15 points all went down the drain.

The 13-0 run in the first 5 minutes of the first quarter was also substantial to Warriors’ victory.

“Lapses namin sa defense lalo na sa offense, nag-struggle kami noong first half, binigay namin laro ng DENR,” Malacañang-PSC Kamao Head Coach Raffy Gonzalez admitted.

While DENR Warriors Head Coach Atty. Norlito Eneran said, “Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga players kasi they responded well. Ang challenge ko sa kanila ibigay natin yung laban na ito para sa aming kasamahan na namatay in line of duty, yun ay si Rolando Corpuz. Nabaril siya dahil sa paggampan ng tungkulin.”

Concurrently, the PhilHealth Plus moved to a better position in a bid to advance to the second-round elimination after defeating the rookie team SSS Kabalikat, 104-80.

PhilHealth Plus Head Coach Delio Aseron said, “Itong panalo na to idini-dedicate namin sa aming beneficiary PhilHealth Provident Fund.”

With a 2-3-win loss record, the health insurers are in the 4th place of Group A in the league of public servants while the Ombudsman Graft Busters are on the 5th place with 1-3 ranking.

At the games between PITC and Ombudsman on November 17, 2019, it is possible to have a multiple-team tie ranking.

Should PITC win, the Ombudsman will go on early vacation. On the other hand, if Ombudsman wins by more than a 15-point lead, they will advance to the 2nd round and PhilHealth will be dropped. Otherwise, the PhilHealth will take their seat going to the next level. — Bernard Dadis
