MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay cited on Thursday some of the accomplishments of PAGIBIG Fund in 2014. He currently chairs said agency.

According to Binay, among the accomplishments of the agency are the increases in loan collection and membership.

The Vice President also affirmed that they made the right decision when they refused to impose additional contributions to its members, despite the opposition of some parties to the move.

PAGIBIG Fund is also set to launch a new program called the Loyalty Card. Under this program, cardholders could avail of discounts on different products and services accredited by PAGIBIG Fund.

“The Loyalty Card is set to be launched in the coming months. This program is similar to Makati City’s yellow card program, which is also under investigation,” he said.

Aside from the accomplishments and new program, the Vice President also boasted of the awards received by the agency.

“PAGIBIG Fund is the first government agency in the Philippines that won in the Stevie Awards. It is also the first government agency in Asia to win an award under the award giving body’s category of management team of the year,” Binay added.

All these awards and accomplishments, Binay said, disprove what the agency’s critics have been claiming.

It can be recalled that Pag-IBIG Fund has been accused of entering into anomalous contracts to serve Binay’s personal interests.

Once again, Binay called on critics to stop attacking the agency’s integrity.

“For a GOCC that lives by professionalism, honesty, competence, and dedication, I am hoping that it won’t be destroyed by politics. That, my countrymen, is not right. That is not “tuwid na daan” (a straight path),” he said.

The Vice President also added that the numbers and awards it has received attest to the real achievements of the said agency. (Darlene Basingan / UNTV News)

Pag-IBIG Fund is most trusted GOCC in 2021 Philippine Trust Index

UNTV News   •   December 1, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Pag-IBIG Fund is the most-trusted government-run corporation according to a nationwide trust survey of key institutions in the Philippines.

This is according to the 2021 Philippine Trust Index (PTI), a nationwide survey by the EON Group that cuts across backgrounds to measure Filipinos’ trust in the government, the business sector, the media, non-governmental organizations, the Church, and the academe.

“We are truly honored to be included in the list of most trusted government agencies. The latest results of the Philippine Trust Index and our 9th straight unmodified opinion from COA show that we have fulfilled our duties during the pandemic while still maintaining the highest standards of transparency and integrity in our work. This is aligned with President Duterte’s vision of clean government with heart for service,” said Secretary Eduardo D. del Rosario, who heads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the 11-member Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

The 2021 PTI noted that “in terms of government agencies, departments that got the highest trust are those whose functions require them to remain engaged with the public, even during the pandemic such as online learning, finance regulation, loan assistance and aid distribution.”

The Department of Education earned the highest trust rating of 91% followed by Pag-IBIG Fund at 89% – the highest among GOCCs on the list.

“On behalf of all Lingkod Pag-IBIG, thank you for your trust, our dear members! As you know, we never stopped providing service even during the lockdown and community quarantines. Instead, we improved our digital assets so you can continue transacting with us online,” Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti said.

“We have proven that during this health crisis, you can always count on our Lingkod Pag-IBIG brand of service. And, while we have previously received awards and recognition, we are even more grateful that it is the public itself, the people we serve, that ranked us as the most trustworthy GOCC in the country for 2021,” he added.

PH slumped to 113th in World Bank’s ease of doing business report

UNTV News   •   November 2, 2017

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines ranks 113th in World Bank’s ease of doing business report this year.

It means a drop by 14 places as compared to last year’s 99th position among 190 economies.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said, the Philippines’ score has increased to 58.74 this year from 58.32 last year.

Still, the drop in ranking indicates that other economies improved much better.

Despite this report, the Secretary said the interests of businessmen to come to the Philippines has not ceased.

“The ranking will be secondary because the bottom line yung score kasi reflects the ease of doing business na. I mean mas madali nang magoperate dito (it’s easier now to operate here),” Lopez said.

The report showed that the country improved in the “paying taxes” indicator as a result of automation in Pagibig, PhilHealth and BIR.

Some of the indicators where the country needs to improve are: starting a business, dealing with construction permits and registering property.

Economic managers noted that improvements may be done in a span of three years.

In line with this, a national single window will be launched in December to fast track transactions in setting up business in the country.

The administration is also pushing for the passage of the National ID System and the Anti-Red Tape Bills. – Rey Pelayo | UNTV News & Rescue
