Asia’s Got Talent Third Placer Gerphil Flores Lauds Songs For Heroes 2’s Noble Cause

Gerphil Flores, a soprano who recently won as the Asia’s Got Talent (AGT) third placer, lauded the noble cause of Songs for Heroes 2, a benefit concert for the Philippines’ uniformed men.

The first Songs for Heroes concert was held on March 19 this year to gather financial assistance for the bereaved families of the Gallant 44, the group of policemen who were killed during the Mamasapano incident.

“It really is one of my goals – to sing with purpose. I do not want to just sing; I want to perform for the benefit of the needy,” the 24-year-old singer remarked.

Gerphil, who takes formal music studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman, is grateful for being part of Songs for Heroes 2. In an interview, she recounted how she immediately accepted the offer upon the organizers’ invitation.

The classical music advocate also added that she is looking forward to the event, stating that she will surely put her emotions on the songs she will perform knowing that it is a tribute for the country’s gallant defenders.

Gerphil gained immense popularity after music legend David Foster, one of the AGT judges, recognized the vocal prowess of the Filipina singer.

She earned the nod of the show’s viewers for her compelling performances of the songs “Speak Softly, Love” and “The Impossible Dream.”

Gerphil will be one of the performers of “Songs for Heroes 2: Ang Mamatay Nang Dahil Sa Iyo (To Die For You),” along with other OPM icons such as Kuh Ledesma, Jed Madela and Wency Cornejo.

Fellow AGT grand finalist Gwyneth Dorado will also join the benefit concert, which will be staged on June 30 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
