General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and General Leonardo Espina, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge, are set to conquer the concert stage of the upcoming Songs for Heroes 2: Ang Mamatay Nang Dahil Sa Iyo (To Die for You).
The two will share an unforgettable performance as a tribute to their fellow uniformed men. They will be joined by philanthropist and Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) president, Mr. Atom Henares.
“We are so happy that we are doing this for our soldiers,” Catapang stated, sharing his excitement despite admitting that he is not really into singing.
Catapang added that the concert is an opportune time for him and Espina to honor the country’s gallant defenders.
“We entered the [Philippine Military Academy] in 1977 and now, it’s 2015, we’re retiring after 38 years of service…so, this is a very huge opportunity that was given to us by Kuya Daniel and Brother Eli,” he remarked.
“After all those years that we’re deployed in different areas and separated from our families, we can now show that we’re still here for them, we are here for the country,” he added.
The AFP Chief also lauded the story behind the event, “It is a really good idea to show the people, our countrymen, that the police and soldiers are always here to serve [them].”
Mr. Henares shared the same sentiment, adding that “it’s very good to see the friendship between the [two groups]” through the performances that will be staged on June 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
