The Philippine National Police lauded a police officer who recently single-handedly stopped an armed robbery in a passenger bus along the North Luzon Expressway and awarded him a “Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal)” at the PNP National Headquarters on September 21.
Last September 13, PO2 Ryan Cabansag responded to a robbery carried out by three armed suspects inside a 38-passenger bus.
PO2 Cabansag, who was on the bus along with his wife and kids, recounted that he drew his gun and introduced himself as a policeman when the robbers ordered the passengers to hand over their belongings.
Though one of the suspects was able to escape and get off the bus, he bravely neutralized the other two suspects to prevent further danger.
Cabansag’s wife also received a plaque of appreciation to recognize her courageous act of supporting his husband’s commendable heroism.
During the ceremony, another set of 20 police officers were lauded for their meritorious deeds in responding to robbery and snatching incidents, and in various operations against illegal drugs, wanted persons and loose firearms.
