General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and General Leonardo Espina, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge, are set to conquer the concert stage of the upcoming Songs for Heroes 2: Ang Mamatay Nang Dahil Sa Iyo (To Die for You).<\/p>\n

The two will share an unforgettable performance as a tribute to their fellow uniformed men. They will be joined by philanthropist and Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) president, Mr. Atom Henares.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so happy that we are doing this for our soldiers,\u201d Catapang stated, sharing his excitement despite admitting that he is not really into singing.<\/p>\n

Catapang added that the concert is an opportune time for him and Espina to honor the country\u2019s gallant defenders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe entered the [Philippine Military Academy] in 1977 and now, it\u2019s 2015, we\u2019re retiring after 38 years of service\u2026so, this is a very huge opportunity that was given to us by Kuya Daniel and Brother Eli,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter all those years that we\u2019re deployed in different areas and separated from our families, we can now show that we\u2019re still here for them, we are here for the country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The AFP Chief also lauded the story behind the event, \u201cIt is a really good idea to show the people, our countrymen, that the police and soldiers are always here to serve [them].\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Henares shared the same sentiment, adding that \u201cit\u2019s very good to see the friendship between the [two groups]\u201d through the performances that will be staged on June 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
