A rare moment. AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang, PNP OIC Gen. Leonardo Espina, PBC President Atom Henares and BMPI Chairman and CEO Daniel Razon share the stage of Songs For Heroes 2 to pay tribute to the country’s defenders.<\/p><\/div>\n

The successful charity concert, \u201cSongs For Heroes 2: Ang Mamatay Nang Dahil Sa Iyo (To Die For You),\u201d raised a total of Php 8 million for the gallant defenders of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).<\/p>\n

The event, staged at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 30, is a sequel of the equally successful Songs For Heroes 1, which was held earlier in March for the families of the heroic PNP SAF 44 troopers.<\/p>\n

Php 3 million of the proceeds was given to the PNP Special Assistance fund while the other Php 3 million went to the AFP Finance Center. PNP\u2019s Officer-in-Charge Gen. Leonardo Espina and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang received the donations.<\/p>\n

The generals expressed their gratitude to the people behind the concert \u2013 the Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), led by its Chairman and CEO Dr. Daniel Razon, and the International Evangelist Bro. Eli Soriano, who is a constant supporter of the group\u2019s advocacies. BMPI is the content provider of the public service channel, UNTV.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if we are all out there, we want to inform our soldiers that there is a group, there is the UNTV that really appreciates what we are doing,\u201d Gen. Catapang stated.<\/p>\n

For Gen. Espina, the assistance they received will serve as an inspiration for them to continue with their duties. \u201cThe support that we received gives us greater desire to help our countrymen,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The two are also grateful for the organizers for letting them take the concert stage, together with Progressive Broadcasting Corporation President Atom Henares, for a rare performance of \u201cThat\u2019s What Friends Are For.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Php 2 million of the total raised funds came from Bro. Eli Soriano and Mr. Atom Henares as an added aid for the country\u2019s uniformed men and their families.<\/p>\n

\"Supporters<\/a>

Supporters of the Songs for Heroes 2 concert filled the Mall of Asia Arena to the brim, showing overwhelming support to the country’s uniformed men.<\/p><\/div>\n

Songs For Heroes 2 featured special video presentations following the story of a police officer and a soldier who dreamt of serving the country since their childhood.<\/p>\n

The concert also gathered some of OPM\u2019s biggest and fast-rising names as well as participants from the PNP and AFP who rendered memorable song and dance performances.<\/p>\n

The performers include Kuh Ledesma, Jed Madela, Gerphil Flores, Wency Cornejo, Jenine Desiderio, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Arnee Hidalgo, Sam Shoaf, Gwyneth Dorado, Shanne Velasco, 5th Gen, the University of the Philippines Dance Company, and the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group. <\/p>\n

Other notable personalities who attended the event are Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, Supreme Court Justice Administrator Atty. Midas Marquez, Iloilo Representative Neil Tupas, Jr., Muntinlupa Representative Rodolfo Biazon, Magdalo Partylist Representative Gary Alejano, and UNTV\u2019s Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Larry Henares. <\/p>\n

According to Razon, the Songs for Heroes event is a way of remembering the gallantry of Philippines\u2019 uniformed men. \u201cWe want to inspire them to carry on with their duties despite the hardships, and let them know that we appreciate what they do,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
